An introduction to the hojo cuff or inline column tie.
In this beginner shibari class, TrueBlue and her model Shakti Bliss teach an introduction to the hojo cuff or inline column tie. You’ve started a tie with a single-column tie… Now what? As Blue explains, this is where a hojo cuff might come in handy – a tie designed to use stable tension to capture and connect columns without the rope becoming too tight or unsustainable. In the first part of the course, Blue demonstrates how to tie a hojo cuff. In the videos that follow, Blue and Shakti demonstrate an agura (cross-legged) tie and an upper body box tie position utilizing a hojo cuff, exploring how just this simple technique can make seemingly complex-looking ties much more accessible. Finally, they offer an inspirational demo, moving in and out of various shapes that can be achieved with hojo cuffs. As they explain, this is not for you to follow along, but rather to show the hojo cuff’s versatility in your earliest ties. This class is intended for shibari beginners and forms part of our Getting Started curriculum.
This class is suitable for all levels. It’s part of our Getting Started series, which we recommend you watch in order.
