We're a community-focused rope space located in the Washington, DC area. We are dedicated to creating opportunities for people to learn, practice, and connect through rope bondage in a welcoming and supportive environment.
We believe rope can be a vehicle for creativity, self-discovery, skill development, communication, and meaningful human connection. We encourage people to explore rope in ways that are authentic to them while building relationships grounded in respect, trust, and accountability.
Our studio is located in a residential area and intentionally small, creating an intimate atmosphere that encourages curiosity, conversation, and authentic community. Beyond technical instruction, we value the social and interpersonal aspects of rope.
To help maintain a safe and brave environment, all first-time attendees complete our vetting process before attending events. Whether you are taking your first steps with rope or looking for a community to grow alongside, we invite you to join us.
The team
Violet
(she/her)Owner, Founder, Facilitator, Venue Operator
Violet's path has weaved her through many different settings and countries both as top and bottom. She has a passion for diving into the elusive psyche that connects and divides one another, with rope and kink as the conduit. With this passion, a rope studio was born, where people can come together to discover, explore, and engage while in an environment that encourages them to learn about themselves more deeply and commune with others with respect and acceptance.
Veers
(he/him)Co-Founder, Facilitator, Venue Operator
Veers (he/him) has been in and out of the kink scene for the last 10+ years. Always having an affinity for bondage, he found his way into the community and through his relationship with Violet, really began to explore Shibari, at first from an explorative perspective and now as a practicing rope top and bottom. He feels that for one to truly understand how rope affects each person involved, one must observe, develop the skills of tying and also the experience of being tied.
Ari
(she/her)Venue manager, facilitator
Ari is a rope bottom, submissive, and masochist who has been engaging with rope in various forms since 2010. She is drawn to the ways trust, presence, and attunement can create opportunities for surrender, vulnerability, growth, and meaningful connection. With a background in kinesiology and medicine, she brings a body-aware and safety-informed perspective. She approaches her involvement in the rope community as an act of service, supporting thoughtful and sustainable practice.
Accessibility
Bound Lark is a kink-informed rope studio rooted in the broader kink community. While people engage with rope for many different reasons and from many different backgrounds, we recognize the historical and ongoing connections to BDSM, power exchange, intimacy, and personal exploration. Our approach emphasizes consent, communication, accountability, and community care, and we strive to create a space where people can explore rope in ways that are authentic to them.
