LA Rope Dojo is a Los Angeles-based rope school dedicated to teaching shibari and kinbaku through a Yukimura-inspired, model-centered approach. Founded in 2011, LA Rope has helped build and support the Los Angeles rope community through regular classes, workshops, intensives, private lessons, and visiting teacher events.

The dojo’s focus is rooted in the Yukimura tradition, emphasizing connection, communication, emotional presence, simplicity of form, and the experience of the person in rope. Rather than treating rope as a set of decorative patterns, LA Rope teaches it as a living relational practice, where technique serves sensation, trust, consent, and shared attention.

LA Rope’s head instructor, Zetsu / Haru Yutaka, is a licensed instructor in the Yukimura tradition, formally certified through Yukimura Haruki’s lineage. He has been teaching shibari in Los Angeles since 2011 and has guided thousands of students through safe, thoughtful rope practice.
