More about Probe Ottawa
Probe is a kinky & queer community space in Ottawa, ON dedicated to providing an inclusive and accessible venue focused on exploration, connection, and self-expression.
Our rope programming includes regular classes, open rope hangouts, and themed parties. We welcome a wide range of approaches to rope which includes technical skill development designed to take you from the floor to the ceiling. We compliment this pathway with opportunities to explore creativity, self-expression, communication, and connection, with all classes taught from both sides of the slash. Whether someone is picking up rope for the first time or looking to grow their practice, our goal is to create opportunities to connect through the rope, build partnerships, and explore new challenges.
Beyond rope, Probe hosts a diverse range of events including workshops, socials, performances, and play parties for the broader kink community.
The team

Sara
(she/her)Operations Manager
Sara first found rope in 2013 and has been happily tangled up in it ever since. From self-tying and acrobatic-inspired flying to hanging in trees and creating elaborate photography, she loves exploring the unexpected places rope can go. While she enjoys the unique ways rope can challenge her body through shapes and stress, her favourite moments are found on the floor, using rope as a tool for connection, communication, and expression.

Miel
(they/them)President
Miel is a certified Usui Reiki Master and spiritual guide who offers alternative therapy for people seeking alignment. Miel’s empathetic nature and passion for helping community members on their journeys has inspired them to create opportunities for folks to nurture deeper connections, internal growth, and radical self love. As a firm believer in the decolonization and disruption of social norms, Miel has faith in people’s ability to reconnect with their authentic selves.

Kosmick
(they/them)Resident Rope Instructor
Kosmick has been getting tangled in knots most of their adult life, with an interest in the beauty and narrative power of bondage. They began studying rope bondage in 2011.. As an instructor, they take an approach of breaking down classic structures and forms, with an emphasis on *why* things are tied the way they are, and an examination of the decision making processes of a tie. They are committed to demystifying rope bondage and empowering learners at all levels.

Red
(any)Self Tie Instructor / Assistant Manager
Red has been, well, self-tying since she picked up a rope. Self-tie is a core part of his rope practice, from performances to self-scenes to using his body as a centerpiece for his art projects. Red loves sharing her passion for self-tie through instruction, skill-sharing, and mentoring, and she’s thrilled to be able to continue to do so at Probe.
