In this case the two limbs are quite far apart so the hojo cuffs are a better option than a figure of eight tie. When the limbs are closer one to the other then both work fine, the figure of eight having the advantage of being more simple to execute.

We are sorry to hear that you are having troubles seeing the captions. We have double checked and it is working fine in the laptop. Maybe try to reload the page or use a different browser? About the captions on the phone in full screen, this is sadly a limitation in the coding of our video player that we cannot fix. We are about to release the iOS and Android apps that will allow to play captions on the phone as well as save videos for offline streaming!

It can be used to support the hips in face down suspensions by passing a rope through the hip line from the back yes. However this should only be done for additional support to a face-down loaded from the chest and legs, but not as a main load-bearing line!

Unfortunately there is no general rule that can answer your question. This is a very personal decision that has to be made case-by-case, according to the specific situation and empirical experience of one's body in ropes. We would recommend that bottoms with little or no experience opt for the safer option and be untied as soon as the first symptoms of nerve compression appear. More experienced bottoms might choose to stay longer in a tie even after the first symptoms are showing, or ask for placement/tension/load adjustments rather than being fully untied. You should also make decisions on how to react to nerve related symptoms according to the estimated time needed to make adjustments or untie.

You can do all these ties on a partner if you prefer of course! Or adapt them to your own body and flexibility. Shibari is all about finding out what works for each unique body type and preference ;-)

Hello Joel, We cannot answer on behalf of Kinoko but here is our response to your questions: 1) from a (general) technical point of view, using the loop knot or nodome doesn't affect the structure of this tie and is only a matter of preference and habits. You can feel free to use either option without compromising the safety or functionality of this tie. 2) Ties featuring this type of chest pattern with a knot bellow the throat usually react in a very predictable way: the knot bellow the throat will get slacker and lower when the tie is loaded with the chest higher than the hips (vertical positions). On the contrary, the knot will get much tighter and higher up on the neck when the tie is loaded with the chest horizontal or lower to the hips (face-down positions) --> The lower the chest is compared to the hips, the more 'choky' this knot will become. Of course this will vary according to the original tension and placement you have used when tying the harness.
