When I first saw photos I thought it was torturing someone. As the women always looked in pain and tortured. So that kept me away from shibari for a good 10 years. Even though in my private life we’d do all kinds of bondage without rope.

It wasn’t until someone tied me with rope, after I dominated someone and reached out to him wanting to learn more, that I experienced it as a healing modality and needed to learn it! I was hooked from the first class!

Even more hooked after my first shibari lesson! That is when it chose me! And I couldn’t not choose it! I had to learn it!

MoBights (Community Manager) yes it is wild what they used to teach with! And yes every teacher on here that I have met used Jute. From the first time I went to chose rope to buy the teacher told me most uses jute and told me the pros and cons about it and I said yes!

I do wish it was washable! But I love it! I tied a friend with her nylon once, didn’t like it! I’ve been tied with Posh it was painful to be suspended in. Too rough!

I’m happy with Jute and its history! So I will stick with it! Thank you!

I started with Jute. I like it as I can do floor work and suspensions. And I stay with it for those reasons and it feels right since all the shibari teachers I’ve studied with from Japan, Asia to Europe uses it… something historical about it… like gong back to Shibari’s roots. Even though they used to tie with everything too!

I sometimes use posh for uplines.

I am predominantly a top, though I am. Switch! I’d love to find someone to tie me for my birthday next week! Wow! That would be heavenly!
