so many switches end up being the local top that is for sure. Feels like there needs to be some special category for "switches seeking bottom experiences" on dating sites and at kink events 😂

Adrian that's some amazing insight, as someone who doesn't bottom for rope (I self tie but I don't really think that's comparable) I'm always in awe at that development that bottoms have to become comfortable with discomfort

Rainbow Masochist so much so, if you haven't heard of the Dunning-Kruger effect definitely something to look at, its a well known science around skill acquisition and how we learn the amount of things we don't know usually outweighs what we do know.

Hey Ash, welcome to the community, thanks for the kind words about the community spaces. We really value being able to connect with the community this way so I'm glad that comes across. In terms of vertical harnesses, its not uncommon for the lower side of the chest to take the majority of the load. One thing I always think about is that load will mostly be opposite the upline. Your solution to load the legs is a great way of handling this, it will reduce the load on the chest and shift some of this to the less sensitive legs. One other thing to explore is to attach lines to the upper wraps of the harness and tensioning directly to the post, again this will share some of the load away from the bottom wrap of the harness.

Hey Rainbow and welcome to the community, Even after years of tying I realise how much more there is left to learn and "expert" is very much a relative term. I sometimes feel like the longer we tie, the more we realise how much we dont know, but that keeps us motivated to explore and be inspired by other peoples rope that we see so you are definitely not alone. Congratulations on achieving your rope goal for the year though, hosting a space for people to enjoy rope is no easy task, especially in a small community, but its great to bring people together to learn and just enjoy nerding out about rope

Hey David and welcome to the community.

I think thats a really great question around your intentional learning progress. For me personally I spent the first year or so of tying in the pattern repetition mpde that fuoco mentioned. However i did soon learn that this didnt help deepen my understanding when i tried lots of different types of harnesses and patterns. I then moved i to more deep dive learning, so choosing a small number of harnesses that fulfilled my current needs (usually some restriction of limbs as i wasnt focussed on suspension at that time) and i tied them as much as i could, understanding how they function and their compenent parts, like what frictipns amd hitches i was using and why. This meant as i looked at new patterns,i looked for familiar frictions and hitches and this helped lead me to exploring new patterns with familiar skills

Looks amazing, how was your first suspension experience? Did you learn anything new about yourself in rope compared to doing floor based ?
