More about Devil Mask Studio
Devil Mask Studio is a queer-owned rope studio in the heart of Los Angeles. Located inside a turn-of-the-century department store, the studio features soaring ceilings, natural light, plants, and a custom-built suspension frame.
Adjacent to the Pershing Square Metro station, the studio is intimate, focused, and built to support sustainable learning. Small class sizes allow for direct feedback, hands-on support, and meaningful progression over time.
We offer drop-in classes, intensives, virtual classes, rope jams, private lessons and sessions for everyone from the rope-curious to seasoned performers refining transitions. Our goal is simple: help you tie like YOU.
With 45+ years of combined teaching experience, Andrew, Nora, and Melissa draw from shibari, Western bondage arts, sports science, anatomy, and somatic theory to create education that is technically informed, consent-forward, and deeply human.
Whether dipping a toe in or deep in your practice, there’s a place for you here.
The Team

Nora | ordinals
(they/them)C.E.O. & Instructor
Nora Last (they/them) is a queer switch, cheesemonger emeritus, and the Big Boss of Devil Mask Studio. You’ll most frequently see them behind the desk, running registration from our nerve center. Nora brings over a decade of experience to the studio, having taught across North America about the intersections of rope, embodiment, neurodiversity, and kink. Their work has been strongly shaped by collaboration with a number of educators, most importantly Ojipan, GoodMostTimes, and Hedwig.

Andrew | ojipan
(he/him)C.O.O. & Instructor
Andrew (he/him) has lived in DTLA for over fifteen years, many of them teaching rope. Andrew is a founding member of The Devil Mask Society, our COO, and the tying instructor for Studio Series classes. He’s probably got his headphones in so you’ll have to speak up.

Melissa | goodmosttimes
(she/her)C.F.O & Instructor
Melissa (she/her) is a longtime educator, founding member of Devil Mask Society, and the studio’s CFO. If you enjoy our sparkling water dispenser, Melissa is the one to thank.
