More about Ma Studio

Rooted in traditional rope practice, the studio offers a welcoming environment for beginners and experienced practitioners. Our programme includes foundational courses from our in-house team, evening classes, regular rope jams, performance evenings, and workshops with international guest teachers. While we offer teaching in the main Shibari lineages of Yukimura, Naka and Akechi Denki and make sure our students gain solid technical skills, the Japanese concept of Ma - the space between - informs not only how we approach rope, but how we hold the space. We are interested in attention, presence, embodiment and communication.

Our traditional tatami room offers a calm and focused learning and play environment. Beyond rope, we offer interdisciplinary classes and workshops that support personal development, artistic expression, and deeper connection. Studio Ma is a space where tradition, creativity and curiosity meet.
