Anthony Ru

a rope cub and rigger in training. body diverse, predicament oriented, with a touch of bar rope 🪢

The leather bandana is the puppy’s - I believe he got it at Mr S leather but I’m not 100% sure

Jute is my preferred handling material partially due to the color and light handling, but given I want to suspend models of all weights safely, I can’t use jute uplines in good conscience. Instead, I use brown posh uplines ( they come closest in color to heavily oiled jute) but might switch to 6mm ipo 5mm posh due to the bightiness and intense pressure ppl have described when making thigh cuffs

Pictured below is a shot of me tying shot at Folsom Berlin, with a pup friend. It’s one of my favorite shots as it shows my belief that rope can exist at any event, not just under a bamboo in a studio. ✨

Helluw everyone!

I realized I haven’t introduced myself yet! My name, Anthoni (25, he/him), and I am a gay rope cub/boy from the Netherlands 🇳🇱 ! I discovered shibari about 2,5 years ago during Darklands, where I got tied up for the first time and realized it “clicked” for me.

However, after I came back to the Netherlands, I realized sadly that when it came to tying at events/ kink socials/ rope in general, finding a gay rigger who was into / open to tying plus size/ bigger men was practically untraceable. The body standard was still either thin and aerial ✈️ or looking like you could be model for a fetish shoot.

I was so tired of standing on the side and getting rejected, I said “if I can’t rely on men I’ll do it myself 💅🏼” I decided to learn how to tie under Hua Hua ( who lived in Amsterdam at the time), so I could eventually teach more people that tying inclusive is not rocket science, and can mean a lot to people even if it’s not the most beautiful TK you’ve ever TK’d. eventually, I switched to Shibari study due to its availability of content of all levels and skills and its understanding community without having a partner. Been tying ever since and slowly started doing suspensions over th last year. I’ve also done some deeper studying by working with Gorgone, who could give in depth feedback. The amount of hours invested does not equal the amount of years of experience 😅😅

I occasionally get to bottom but for now I’m walking the path of the bearcub rigger in training , and it suits me well, tying with an open mind and learning new tricks everyday in my local studio, Salon expose Amsterdam. Nice to meet yall, and looking forward to all the new experiences I still get to explore!

Replied on Using Carabiners

Shibari Study Support yes! The carabiners become perpendicular/ diagonal to the ring unlike the bamboo where the hardpoint stays in the same direction!

What keeps the ankle tie from just sliding back to the heel? The size of the cuff?

Question about using the carabiners on a ring, when you attatch the first two carabiners on a ring the angle changes clockwise 90 degrees - ( not in the same direction when for example suspending vertically. Is this an issue?

Very very much enjoyed this class and hope to see more of this! Also if possible to explain a little more how to make the clove hitch upline for the moon tie to prevent the slippage

Awesome! Can you replace their rope with a larksheaded blindfold or mouth rope in case you have short hair?
