New year, new blog post – and what an insightful and powerful article to kick off the year, thanks to none other than Shakti Bliss who is as amazing a writer as she is a rope educator. This is for everyone wanting to "tend the thread" and practice rope with purpose, not just because it's a new year but because connection, intention and the joy of ropes are so intertwined. Happy reading and happy tying!

I've been so, so excited to share this article and now the time has finally come... It's our final blog post for the year, so of course it's an extra spicy one – a super hot, ropes-out-and-hands-on guide to shibari for sex by the esteemed Ena Dahl (who, when she's not writing for us, presented some of this year's steamiest live classes together with her partner Roxu). Hope you all love this piece as much as I do!

Welcome Rainbow! Originally coming from a place with an at-the-time very small rope scene, this is so relatable. Luckily for me, I was never the resident "expert", but Astrid was – and she went on to open her own dedicated rope space and has also written for our blog!https://shibaristudy.com/blog/post/advice-for-future-rope-educators-in-far-flung-places

Welcome! Happy to have you here. I really loved the answer you gave on another post about how you approach learning intentionally – have no doubt the community will be learning from you too.

Adore the co-tying performance. It was such a pleasure to watch.

New blog post up, written by none other than @MoBights. If you've ever wondered about the life cycle of your shibari ropes or what kind of damage might weaken your ropes and be cause to retire them, read on!

I adore the Fisherman too! Underrated MVP as far as I'm concerned.

This is such a great and honestly immense question. If I look back, even as a kid reading books like Nancy Drew and Hardy Boys (giving my age away here), I was always really interested when the heroes were somehow tied up or trapped. As an adult, I realised I could play with that same state of fear and excitement by actually being in ropes, and that kicked off some early kink explorations. I've always grappled with anxiety, so there's something very intriguing – liberating even – and somehow subversive to me about welcoming the surrender and the struggle of rope. But it took meeting my first properly rope-obsessed person in what was then a very tiny kink community to really start my own obsession, and I haven't looked back since!

I’m also a big fan the self tie Butterfly. Anna teaches it so well and clearly too.
